Unmanned aircraft, commonly known as “drones,” are gaining traction as a tool used by many industries today, including health care. Researchers are currently studying potential applications for drones in delivering medical supplies to rural areas or the site of emergencies. Though operational restrictions set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations currently limit the use of drones for such purposes, the FAA is expected to expand potential operations in the next few years. This episode discusses the current landscape for drone use, potential future uses, and steps providers may take to test these devices.
